Yangon: The Myanmar government has released recent images of Aung San Suu Kyi meeting with Red Cross representatives, easing concerns about her well-being.
According to Thai News Agency, questions had been raised about the well-being of Aung San Suu Kyi, the 81-year-old former leader of Myanmar who is currently imprisoned. In response, the government released images today showing her meeting with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross. The statement indicated that the meeting took place today, but did not disclose details of the location or purpose. The images, however, included a birthday cake for Aung San Suu Kyi.
Aung San Suu Kyi was immediately detained following the military coup on February 1, 2021. She was subsequently prosecuted and sentenced to prison, with her location and health undisclosed. Her son has also expressed concern for his mother's safety and called on the government to provide proof that she is still alive.
