Immigration Bureau Arrests Chinese Fugitive at Suvarnabhumi Airport, Warns Foreign Criminals.

Bangkok: Immigration officials in Thailand have apprehended a Chinese national, Mr. Chen Shuai, at Suvarnabhumi Airport, who was sought for crimes involving smuggling and document forgery related to the luxury car market in China. The arrest was made by the Immigration Bureau Division 2 Investigation Unit. According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Col. Chengron Rimphidi, the Commander of Immigration Bureau Division 2, revealed the arrest details after receiving a report from Pol. Col. Nattakit Meesuk, Chief of the Crime Suppression Division. The operation, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Ditthapat Ruanghatthakan, successfully intercepted Mr. Chen, who was listed with a RED NOTICE in the international police system, just as he attempted to flee to Cambodia. Mr. Chen had been involved in illicit activities from November 1979 to April 1980, causing financial damages exceeding 2.53 million yuan, equivalent to 11 million baht. After committing these offenses, he sought refuge in Thailand. The Thai and Chinese Immigration Bureaus coordinated effectively to track him down. On December 1, 2024, anticipating his departure to Cambodia, the officers arrested him before his check-in process and discovered that his stay permit had expired. Pol. Maj. Gen. Chengron issued a stern warning to foreign nationals using Thailand as a haven for illegal activities. He emphasized that the Thai Immigration Bureau is vigilant, especially during the tourist season, and will scrutinize foreigners without clear travel intentions or return flights. Those posing security risks will be denied entry to maintain the country's safety and integrity.
