Bangkok: "Pae" Yaowaret Permkaew delivered an impressive performance at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, clinching two gold medals and one silver medal in the women's 61 kg junior category. Thai weightlifters have collectively amassed a total of six gold medals, two silver medals, and one bronze medal at the event.
According to Thai News Agency, at the competition, the Thai team had already secured 4 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze medal prior to Yaowaret's participation. On August 10th, 2026, Yaowaret competed in the girls' junior 61 kg category in Group A, adding to the team's medal tally.
In the snatch lift, Yaowaret successfully lifted 92 kilograms on her first attempt. Although her second attempt at 95 kilograms was unsuccessful, she managed to lift the same weight on her third attempt, achieving a personal best and securing a silver medal. In the clean and jerk event, she lifted 114 and 120 kilograms in her first two attempts, earning a gold medal. Although she attempted to break the Asian youth record with 127 kilograms, she was unsuccessful. Her performance in the clean and jerk, along with a total weight of 215 kilograms, secured her two gold medals.
Sayoda Kudoykulova from Uzbekistan and Mariam Keshtgar from Iran also performed well, earning medals in the snatch, clean and jerk, and total weight categories. In the boys' 75 kg youth category, Group B, Mr. Nantawut Puangbubpha and Mr. Kongla Phromduangsri in the junior category, recorded impressive lifts, although their performances did not earn medals.
The schedule for upcoming competitions includes Junior Men's 95 kg Group B featuring Mr. Prasit Chomdejpichaya and Junior Women's 69 kg Group A featuring Miss Natthanicha Karaked on August 12, 2026.
