Interior Ministry Honors King Rama I and Chakri Dynasty on Memorial Day

Bangkok: The Minister of Interior led civil servants of the Ministry of Interior to pay homage on Chakri Day. The Interior Ministry spearheaded a tribute to the royal monument of King Rama I in recognition of King Rama I Day and the Chakri Dynasty Memorial Day, celebrated on April 6, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, led senior executives of the Ministry of Interior to lay wreaths at the Royal Monument of King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great, Rama I of Rattanakosin. The ceremony was held in the presence of notable officials, including Ms. Sabida Thaiset, Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Arsit Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, along with other senior leaders and civil servants from various departments under the Ministry.

King Rama I’s ascension to the throne marked the beginning of the Chakri Dynasty and the founding of Bangkok as Thailand’s capital on April 6, 1782. This date is commemorated annually as King Rama I Day and Chakri Memorial Day. Over 243 years, the Chakri Dynasty has seen ten reigns, with its monarchs serving as both spiritual and central figures for the Thai people. Their dedication to national happiness and citizen welfare has earned them deep respect and admiration.

In honor of King Buddha Yodfa Chulalok the Great Day and the Chakri Dynasty Memorial Day, the public is encouraged to engage in acts of charity, volunteerism, and good deeds. Government agencies, private sectors, educational institutions, and the general public are invited to collectively express loyalty and gratitude towards the Thai monarchy, recognizing the role of the kings in maintaining the nation’s stability and independence.
