Bangkok: Jamorn Kijsaowapak, a renowned news anchor from Thai News Agency, has been awarded the prestigious "Outstanding Journalist of the Year 2026" by the Association of Regional Newspapers of Thailand. Rear Admiral Worawit Techasupakorn, assistant to Ms. Supajee Suthamphan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, presided over the award ceremony held at King Park Avenue Hotel in the Srinakarin area.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Jamorn Kijsaowapak, who is a social news reporter and anchor for the "Khab Khao 9" program on MCOT HD 30, was recognized for his exceptional contributions to journalism and received an honorary plaque. Alongside him, 13 leading crime reporters were also acknowledged for their outstanding work.
In a related ceremony, the Regional Newspaper Association of Thailand honored exemplary civil servants for their achievements in 2026. Police Major General Teeradet Thamsuthee, known as "Big Jao," was recognized for his efforts in combating online crime as the Deputy Commander of the Bangkok Metropolitan Police. Police Major General Songprot Sirisukha, Commander of Immigration Police Division 3, received an accolade for his dedication to public service, while Police Major General Pornsak Laorujiralai, Commander of the Highway Police, was awarded for promoting road safety through strict adherence to traffic regulations.
The Association of Regional Newspapers of Thailand was established in 1965 in Phitsanulok Province and has since become a cornerstone for regional media professionals. With over 3,000 members, the association aims to foster the development of media across various platforms, serving as a central network for regional media nationwide. Mr. Anan Nilmanon currently presides over the association, which continues to engage in numerous public benefit activities.
