Nagoya: Japan is counting down one month until the arrival of 15,000 athletes. The Thai Asian Games contingent is 100 percent ready, and allowances are not a problem.
According to Thai News Agency, Dr. Kongsak Yodmani, Governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), stated that host Japan has begun the one-month countdown to the start of the 20th Asian Games, scheduled from September 19th to October 4th, 2026, in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. The atmosphere is lively, and the country is prepared to welcome over 15,000 athletes from across Asia who will be competing.
Dr. Kongsak shared insights from monitoring Japan's preparations, noting that the host country has arranged for 4,000-5,000 athletes to stay on a ship equipped with 571 rooms, 7 swimming pools, and 8 restaurants. He expressed confidence that the arrangements would not be disrupted by Japan's typhoon season. Additionally, another 2,000 athletes and officials will reside in wooden container-style accommodations at Garden Pier in Nagoya, with the remainder staying in various hotels.
The Governor also commented on the readiness of the Thai national athletes, stating that they are diligently continuing their training and are well-prepared in all aspects. The SAT, alongside the National Sports Development Fund, the National Olympic Committee of Thailand, and national sports associations, has been actively collaborating to ensure comprehensive team preparation.
Dr. Kongsak assured that there are no issues with allowances for athletes and coaches. Payments for June have been fully disbursed, and July disbursements are underway for sports associations that have submitted the required documents. For those still pending, efforts are being made to expedite the process, ensuring prompt allowance disbursement to athletes and coaches.
