By Woo Jae-yeon TvN's popular reality show "Jinny's Kitchen" returned for its second season, introducing Korea's first restaurant in Iceland, featuring a hearty bowl of hot beef soup. "This aligns with our goal of promoting Korean cuisine," producer Na young-seok said during an online press event before Friday's premiere. Beef soup, or "gomtang" in Korean, was chosen as the main dish for several reasons, Na said: It's a favorite of restaurant owner Lee Seo-jin, it's well-suited to Iceland's cold climate, and it's simple to prepare. "You just boil ingredients for hours. No special skills required," he said. "Plus, we named the restaurant after Seo-jin, so we thought, why not fulfill his wish this time?" "We didn't expect that many guests would turn up given the country's cold weather, and we were surprised at the high customer turnout," the actor Lee said. "Initially, I thought 'the customer is king,' but soon I found myself focused on how much money we were making," he said. "As we made record profits, I kept wanting more." In a teaser unveiled Friday, a long line of customers is seen snaking around the restaurant in Iceland's capital city of Reykjavik, with Lee apologizing to visitors that the restaurant ran out of food. "Jinny's Kitchen" is the second spin-off of the 2017 series "Youn's Kitchen," following "Youn's Stay." The original show featured Oscar-winning "Minari" actress Youn Yuh-jung as the owner of a restaurant and lodge. The first season of "Jinny's Kitchen" aired in February last year, featuring Korean celebrities Lee Seo-jin, Jung Yu-mi, Park Seo-jun and Choi Woo-shik, selling Korean street food in a small town in Mexico. The crew remained largely unchanged in Season 2, except for Go Min-si, who replaced BTS' V. "I seriously pondered opening a second chapter of my life," Park Seo-jun joked, contemplating a career change. "I thought I could live with a different job." New intern Go said: "I wasn't confident in cooking, but I could handle tasks quickly. I'd love to get promoted within the c ompany."
