“Jiraporn” establishes JIC center to collect flood data

Jiraporn" sets up JIC center to gather flood information, stresses accelerating communication to help people in crisis. Ms. Jiraporn Sindhuphrai, Minister to the Prime Minister's Office, is concerned about the flood situation in many provinces, especially the monitoring and receiving of news from the people. She has therefore ordered the Public Relations Department, which is an agency under her supervision, to act as a coordinating unit between government agencies and the people, adhering to the guidelines of the Public Relations Department's Crisis Action Plan (Phra In Plan). Ms. Jiraporn said that the Public Relations Department has set up a Joint Information Center (JIC) which will work 24 hours a day to collect important information about the flood situation. The Public Relations Department News Agency is the main responsible agency and integrates the work by mobilizing media personnel from the Public Relations Department in every province nationwide to go to the area to monitor the situation and repor t the news closely in order to help the people. In addition, the Public Relations Department has adjusted the format of news and other programs, both central and regional, to support flood situation communication, which can be followed through the following channels: 1. Television station: NBT2HD, which opens a special segment on 'Flood Situation - Assistance' in the Better Future program from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. every day and the NBT program has answers from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. every Monday to Friday, summarizing the water situation in the evening news program at 5:30 p.m. every day. 2. The public who are affected by the disaster can contact the various channels operated by the Public Relations Department or call the hotline 1111, the complaint center at Government House, the hotline 1784, the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, the hotline 1567, the Damrongtham Center, Ministry of Interior, the hotline 1586, the Highways Department, and all channels of government agencies.
