KG Mobility’s July sales down 23.4 pct on weak exports

KG Mobility Corp., formerly known as SsangYong Motor Co., said Thursday its July sales dropped 23.4 percent from a year earlier due to sluggish overseas sales. KG Mobility sold 8,313 vehicles last month, compared with 10,848 units sold a year earlier, the company said in a statement. Domestic sales inched up 4.8 percent on-year to 4,237 units but exports plunged 40.1 percent to 4,076 units due to stagnation in electric vehicle demand in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, the company said. KG Mobility said it plans to expand new models to Europe and the Asia-Pacific region in the second half of the year, while boosting its market strategy though partnerships with auto dealerships in respective countries and markets. The automaker plans to soon release its new coupe-type SUV, Actyon. The name is inherited from the discontinued Actyon brand during the company's SsangYong Motor period. Source: Yonhap News Agency
