Khun chat: From local fruit to income-generating products, villagers in Khun Chat village, Don Kloi subdistrict, Nong Kha Yang district, Uthai Thani province, have formed a group to process "Sour Orange" into five products and are now opening their community to health-conscious tourists. According to Thai News Agency, villagers from Moo 3, Ban Khun Chat, Don Kloi Subdistrict, Nong Khayang District, Uthai Thani Province, have formed a community enterprise group called Hom Sakae Krang. With 15 members, they are processing "Som Sa," a local fruit of the province-an ancient citrus fruit with distinctive characteristics: thick, rough, bumpy skin similar to kaffir lime, and a unique sweet and sour, juicy taste with a distinctive zesty aroma-into value-added products, creating jobs and income for the community.
The developed products include five items: 100% Citrus Essential Oil, Aroma Fresh, Citrus Mosquito Repellent Spray, Sweet Citrus Shrimp Paste, and Citrus Marmalade. These products will be sold at various events in Uthai Thani Province and Bangkok, as well as through the "Hom Sakae Krang" Facebook page. Furthermore, the community is being developed into a health tourism destination, offering groups and families the opportunity to learn about and experience the local way of life on an ongoing basis.
