Bangkok: His Majesty the King has expressed concern for the flood-affected residents in the southern region and has extended assistance to all individuals impacted by the crisis. He has called for urgent support to those in need, urging them to evacuate from dangerous areas and commending the efforts of volunteers who have mobilized during this challenging time. The Prime Minister has also convened an urgent meeting to address the situation.
According to Thai News Agency, a meeting was held this morning at Government House, chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, alongside Air Chief Marshal Sathitpong Sukwimol, who serves as Private Secretary to His Majesty the King and Secretary-General of the Royal Household. The meeting, aimed at addressing the flooding in the South, was attended by key government figures including Deputy Prime Minister and Transport Minister Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Deputy Prime Ministers Sophon Saram and Bowornsak Uwanno, and other ministers and relevant agency heads.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Lt. Col. Thammanat Prompao, who is also the Director of the Natural Disaster Water Management Center, participated in the meeting via video conference. Defense Minister Gen. Nattapol Nakphanit also joined remotely.
Before the meeting commenced, Air Chief Marshal Sathitpong delivered His Majesty the King’s message of concern for the flood-affected citizens. The King has offered comprehensive assistance to those impacted, urging a collective effort involving civilians, military, police, and government officials to deploy necessary resources such as boats for rescue operations. The King’s directive includes the provision of essential supplies like food and water by the Royal Thai Navy, Royal Thai Air Force, and the Ministry of Interior, emphasizing the need for accurate and swift assistance. Additionally, His Majesty praised the volunteer efforts across the country, acknowledging those who have consistently aided the public, not only in the southern region but nationwide.
