Klopp Criticizes World Cup Water Breaks as Advertising Strategy

Bangkok: Former Liverpool manager Jrgen Klopp has voiced his disapproval of the water breaks introduced during the World Cup, claiming they are more about advertising than aiding the players. This critique comes amid discussions surrounding the newly implemented rule for the 2026 World Cup, which mandates a 3-minute water break between halves due to the hot weather conditions in the host country.

According to Thai News Agency, Klopp, who is currently serving as the head of football at Red Bull, expressed his concerns, suggesting that the water breaks were not primarily designed for the players' welfare. Instead, he argued that these breaks serve as opportunities for product advertisements, overshadowing their intended purpose of providing respite for players in challenging weather conditions.
