Bangkok: Koravee Prisnanantakul, a Bhumjaithai Party MP for Ang Thong, has criticized the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) and the People's Power Party for their allegations regarding the bribery of opposition MPs. He emphasized that the government holds a strong majority and does not need to engage in buying votes.
According to Thai News Agency, Koravee expressed his disapproval through a Facebook post, responding to claims that opposition MPs were being bribed to participate in parliamentary quorums for millions of baht. He questioned the origin of such claims and the rationale behind them. Koravee emphasized that attending parliamentary sessions is a fundamental duty of all MPs, regardless of their political alignment, and he questioned why fulfilling this duty would be interpreted as being influenced by bribery.
Koravee highlighted that the current government possesses a stable majority of approximately 300 votes, negating any need to purchase opposition support. He argued against the logic of bribing opposition MPs, suggesting that such accusations are baseless and damaging. He challenged those making the allegations to provide concrete evidence, warning against spreading unfounded rumors that undermine parliamentary integrity.
In his concluding remarks, Koravee called for those making the accusations to present clear evidence if they are confident in their claims. He urged against resorting to speculation or hearsay, which he believes tarnishes the reputation of the parliament and the honor of its members. He reiterated that diminishing others does not elevate one's own standing and emphasized the importance of maintaining credibility and respect among parliamentary members.
