Large River Prawns Draw Crowds at Chonburi’s Kathin Samakki Ceremony.

Chonburi: A magnificent merit-making event, the Kathin Samakki Ceremony at Wat Nong Ri in Chonburi Province, saw villagers lining up for over a kilometer to receive large river prawns. The event, held in the Nong Ri Subdistrict of Mueang District, was presided over by Mr. Alongkorn Sae Tang, owner of Meng Kan Yang shop, and attracted a large crowd. According to Thai News Agency, the highlight of the event was the distribution of 150 kilograms of palm-sized boiled river prawns, generously offered by Mr. Alongkorn. He shared that the prawns, worth tens of thousands of baht, were part of his contribution to the ceremony, aiming to provide attendees with quality food. The prawns, accompanied by seafood dipping sauce, were a novelty for many villagers who had never tasted such large prawns due to their high cost. Villagers expressed their gratitude to the hosts, hoping for the continuation of this gesture in future events. Many appreciated the size, freshness, and taste of the prawns, which weighed up to 200 gra ms each.
