Late Cardinal Sin’s house-turned-museum to open Sunday

MANILA: The Catholic faithful will now get a glimpse of the early life and legacy of the late Manila Archbishop Jaime Cardinal Sin as his family’s home in New Washington town in Aklan has been turned into a museum.

In a social media post, the Manila Cathedral shared that Sin’s house, transformed into ‘Museo Kardinal,’ will be open to the public beginning Sept. 1.

‘The museum is a tribute to the life and legacy of Cardinal Sin,’ the post said.

It will show a collection of His Eminence’s memorabilia and other ecclesiastical arts and has a souvenir and coffee shops.

The Sin family stayed there from 1974 to 2003.

The project received approval through a memorandum of agreement signed on Aug. 31, 2023 between the Diocese of Kalibo and the Serviam Foundation.

The organizers said the establishment of the museum aims to preserve the memory of Cardinal Sin and educate future generations about his life and teachings.

Aug. 31 is the 96th birth anniversary of the cardinal, who played a key role during the 1986 Edsa
People Power Revolution.
