Indianapolis: LIV Golf has announced the early conclusion of its 2026 season, canceling the Team Championship in Michigan that was originally scheduled for August 27-30. The decision means that both the team and individual champions will now be determined this week at The Club at Chatham Hills in Indianapolis.
According to Thai News Agency, the main reason behind the premature end of the season was the withdrawal of funding from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). The PIF, which had invested over US$5 billion into LIV Golf since 2022, stated that continued funding was no longer part of its strategic plan. This development forced LIV Golf to undergo a rapid restructuring process. In response, the organization recently secured an agreement with a new group of major investors to provide necessary capital for its operations moving forward.
In terms of competition, Jon Rahm, the Spanish professional golfer and captain of Team Legion XIII, has clinched his third consecutive individual title for the season. The runner-up position remains undecided with Bryson DeChambeau, Joaquin Nymann, Lucas Herbert, and Tyrrell Hatton competing closely. The team competition will see the scores of all four players from each team being totaled over several days, culminating in the announcement of the 2026 team champion this Sunday.
