According to Thai News Agency, the Trang Provincial Tourism and Sports Office spearheaded an initiative to test a community tourism route in Ban Nam Rab, Kantang District, Trang Province. This endeavor, part of the 'Trang Elite Essence Project: Refining Destinations for High-Quality Tourism,' emphasizes low-carbon tourism. The project brought together tourism operators, tour guides, hotel operators, and tour companies to explore and refine this sustainable tourism model.
The journey begins at Nam Rap pier and meanders through over 3,000 rai of lush mangrove forests. Local guides enrich the experience by sharing insights about the community, key tourist attractions, and traditional fishing methods. The expansive mangrove forest is crucial for the local ecosystem, serving as a habitat and nursery for various aquatic species. Travelers can expect to witness large troops of monkeys, eagles, and monitor lizards, along with local fishing boats during the rafting trip. A delightful snack of Khanom Kho, a traditional Thai dessert, is also provided.
One of the highlights of the trip is a hike up "Khao Chom Pa," offering a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view. The uphill trek spans approximately 400 meters, requiring about 1 hour and 20 minutes to complete. Each group is assigned a guide to ensure a safe and informative journey.
After the hike, participants are treated to a sumptuous lunch on the raft, featuring freshly sourced seafood and local delicacies. The menu includes steamed fresh crab, crab curry with betel leaves, and a unique salad roll made with Melientha suavis leaves.
The adventure continues past "Ban Namrab Heart Island," a heart-shaped island best viewed from above or via drone footage. The journey then leads to the Thale Waek (Separated Sea) and Dragon's Back sandbars, where tourists can enjoy walking, swimming, and photography. The community offers daily raft tours and multiple boat tours, with special packages available for larger groups, including a seafood feast for 700 baht per person.
