Bangkok: Captain Anudit Nakornthap, the Kla Dharma Party’s chief strategist, addressed the controversy surrounding the “Chanapat” clip, emphasizing that it was a personal opinion and not reflective of the party’s stance. He clarified that the Kla Dharma Party has never promised any ministerial positions to anyone and reiterated his commitment to transparent and legal scrutiny.
According to Thai News Agency, Capt. Anudit responded to Ms. Phakamon Nun-anan’s inquiry about the audio clip from Mr. Chanonpat Naksua, a Songkhla MP for the Kla Dharma Party. He expressed gratitude for the question and concern for the standard of Thai politics. Capt. Anudit emphasized that the party has no policy or promises regarding ministerial positions to Mr. Chanonpat, asserting that the words in the clip were personal opinions and not representative of party policy or strategy.
Capt. Anudit further explained that the party has not discussed or promised political positions, as such decisions are at the Prime Minister’s discretion under the Constitution. The case involving Mr. Chanopat is undergoing legal scrutiny, and the Kla Tham Party remains committed to not interfering with the investigation while respecting the accused’s right to prove their innocence. He stressed the importance of basing decisions on facts rather than political pressure, promoting uniform standards across parliament.
He reiterated the need for equal investigation of allegations against all parties, highlighting that many MPs face legal battles while continuing their duties. Capt. Anudit expressed understanding of public concerns but urged against judging the party’s credibility based on an individual’s words in a clip, stating it may be unfair to the party and its members who work with integrity.
