Mass Prosecution in Hong Kong: Indictment of 7 Individuals and 2 Companies for Dapu Fire

Hong kong: Xinhua News Agency reported that the Hong Kong Police Force, in conjunction with the Independent Commission Against Corruption of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, has announced the indictment of individuals and entities involved in the tragic fire at the Hong Fu Yuan (Wang Fuk Court) residential complex in Da Pu district, which occurred in November 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, the details of the accused include the director of the consulting firm hired to oversee the building maintenance project at the time of the incident, a registered inspector, and the director of the main contractor. They face a total of 25 charges, including serious charges of negligence resulting in death, as well as systemic corruption such as money laundering and attempted obstruction of justice.

Regarding the legal proceedings, it has been reported that the case has been brought before the West Kowloon Magistrates' Court. The court has ordered a postponement of the hearing until September 2nd, at the request of the prosecutor, to allow time for further evidence gathering and investigation.
