Mayon Volcano Eruption Persists, Alert Level 3 Maintained

Bangkok: The Mayon volcano in the Philippines continues to erupt, spewing ash. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology reported that Mount Mayon in the Philippines continued to erupt, spewing lava and rocks, in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

According to Thai News Agency, the volcanic eruption has continued for 190 consecutive days, resulting in lava flows, massive volcanic landslides, and rockfalls. Currently, a Level 3 alert remains in effect, prohibiting people from entering the permanent danger zone within a 6-kilometer radius. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) explained that this alert level, which has been in effect since January 2016, indicates that the volcano remains highly active and that magma is present near the crater.

Local officials in Albay province continue to strictly enforce safety measures in the affected area. PHIVOLCS states that it is closely monitoring the volcano's activity 24 hours a day.
