MCOT and OR Collaborate to Support Elderly and Disabled with Elastic Bands

Bangkok: MCOT, in partnership with PTT Oil and Retail Public Company Limited (OR), has launched the 'MCOT Cares X Rubber of Concern, I Care for You' initiative, focusing on creating and distributing elastic bands to support the elderly and individuals with disabilities. This event, held on June 11-12, 2026, at the MCOT operations building, saw active participation from local police, youth, and community members.

According to Thai News Agency, this collaborative effort aligns with MCOT's ongoing 'MCOT Cares' project, which engages various sectors in community-benefiting activities. OR's "Rubber Care...I Care About You" project, which focuses on transforming rubber bands into exercise tools, complements MCOT's mission. Together, they aim to extend their impact by providing essential rehabilitation equipment to those in need.

Mr. Kittipong Khantirat, Deputy Managing Director of MCOT, emphasized the importance of partnership in enhancing societal well-being. He expressed gratitude to OR officials, police officers from Huai Khwang Police Station, and participating families for their involvement in this initiative, which aims to improve the lives of the elderly and disabled through volunteerism.

The two-day event commenced with a collaborative workshop involving local youth and parents, teaching them how to craft resistance bands. The second day focused on MCOT executives and employees creating additional bands for distribution. These efforts are directed towards supporting individuals with muscular dystrophy and other disabilities in the Huai Khwang district.

The resistance bands, endorsed by physiotherapists, are designed to aid in muscle and joint exercise, physical rehabilitation, and promoting bone health. Post-event, these bands will be distributed via care facilities and public health services to enhance mobility and quality of life for recipients in the community.
