MEA warns of scammers pretending to be MEA officials changing electricity meters

Bangkok, The Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) warns the public to be careful of groups of scammers who deceive electricity users by pretending to be officials providing electricity meter replacement services or claiming to be representatives providing various services. The MEA confirms that it has no policy for its employees or representatives to accept electricity bill payments or any service fees outside of its offices in any case. Mr. Khomkrit Sakrik, Director of Corporate Communications of MEA or the Metropolitan Electricity Authority, said that MEA is concerned and would like to warn the public to be careful of groups of scammers who deceive electricity users, impersonating MEA officials to provide services for changing electricity meters or impersonating representatives to provide various services and collecting service fees via social media channels or other channels that are not MEA service channels. It is recommended to think carefully before making any transactions and confirm that current ly, MEA has no policy for employees or employee representatives to accept payment of electricity bills or any service fees outside of the office in any case.
