Bangkok: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning indicating that from November 17-23, the upper region of Thailand will experience unstable weather characterized by thunderstorms in some areas. Following this, a drop in temperature is expected, resulting in cool to cold weather accompanied by strong winds. Meanwhile, the southern region is forecast to see an increase in rain, with some areas experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall.
According to Thai News Agency, a 24-hour weather forecast highlights that the Northeastern region will face cool to cold weather with strong winds and isolated thunderstorms. The North, Central, and Eastern regions will encounter cool morning weather due to a high-pressure system or moderate cold air mass from China affecting upper Thailand. Residents in these regions are advised to take precautions for their health due to the colder weather. The southern region will also experience thunderstorms in certain areas, with the upper Gulf of Thailand and offshore in the Andaman Sea expecting moderate waves. Mariners are urged to exercise caution and avoid sailing in areas with thunderstorms.
The forecast further elaborates that during the specified period, unstable weather will initially impact the Northeastern region, with other areas being affected later. A high-pressure system or cold air mass from China is expected to spread over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, causing temperatures to drop. The southern region will experience an increase in rainfall, with some areas potentially facing heavy to very heavy rain due to the intensified northeast monsoon. This weather pattern will result in strong winds and waves in the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea. Residents along the eastern coast of the Southern region should be cautious of potential flash floods and landslides, while mariners are advised to proceed with caution and avoid areas with thunderstorms. Small boats in the Gulf of Thailand are advised to refrain from leaving the shore between November 19-23, 2025.
The weather forecast from 6:00 AM today to 6:00 AM tomorrow for various regions indicates that the Northern region will have cool mornings with thunderstorms in 10 percent of the area, primarily in provinces such as Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Tak, and Kamphaeng Phet. The Northeastern region will experience cool weather with strong winds and isolated thunderstorms in provinces like Ubon Ratchathani, Sisaket, Surin, and Buriram. The Central and Eastern regions will have cool morning weather, with the Eastern region also expecting sea waves up to 2 meters high offshore.
The Southern region’s east coast will face thunderstorms in 30% of the area, particularly in provinces like Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Songkhla, while the west coast will experience thunderstorms in 60% of the area, notably in Phuket, Krabi, Trang, and Satun. Bangkok and surrounding areas will experience cool weather in the morning.
