Bangkok: The SML (Self-Made Small and Medium Enterprise) program has been relaunched after a hiatus of over three years, spearheaded by Minister "Jae Ruay," who is piloting 349 projects with a budget exceeding 99.5 million baht.
According to Thai News Agency, the "SML Plus Subcommittee" recently approved the pilot program, which will be presented to the national board on July 27th. The initiative is being led by Ms. Suksomruay Wantaniyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office. During the 4th meeting of 2026 held on July 20, the subcommittee focused on the initial round of SML Plus project funding requests from village and urban community funds across the country.
The meeting resolved to have the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office submit these project considerations to the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee for approval on July 27, 2026. The approved projects, which have been pending for more than three years, total 349 with a combined budget of over 99,500,000 baht. This marks a significant step forward for the SML Plus project and the community funds involved.
The National Village and Urban Community Fund Office plans to expedite the submission of additional project funding requests, with the aim of approving applications worth billions of baht during August and September 2026. This funding is anticipated to be pivotal in promoting grassroots economic development and providing tangible support to village and urban community funds nationwide.
