Accra:A coordinated response is underway in three eastern provinces as the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, led by Minister Suchart Chomklin, tackles severe flooding in Nakhon Nayok, Chachoengsao, and Prachinburi.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Suchart has tasked his ministry with mobilizing resources, including boats, water pumps, and personnel, under a unified "One Ministry" approach. This initiative aims to expedite water drainage and provide continuous assistance to those affected by the floods.
A forward operations center, directed by Deputy Permanent Secretary Mr. Phadet Laithong, has been established to streamline relief efforts and ensure that resources are allocated According to specific needs of each area. In Chachoengsao, the Marine and Coastal Resources Office Region 2 is actively involved in distributing supplies, relief packages, and essential equipment to the public in Bang Khla district.
In Prachinburi, a team of 64 officers from various agencies is working to construct water barriers with sandbags and support water pumping operations. They have also installed two 12-inch water pumps in the municipal area and distributed 200 liters of bio-fermented water to mitigate issues with stagnant and odorous floodwaters.
Efforts in Nakhon Nayok include the deployment of water pumps to improve drainage in Ongkharak District, with similar installations in Mueang Chachoengsao District in Chachoengsao Province. This is part of a broader strategy by the Regional Water Resources Office 6 to enhance drainage efficiency and reduce the flood's impact on residents.
Mr. Suchart has emphasized the importance of vigilance and rapid response, urging all agencies to assist the public swiftly and ensure preparedness for post-flood recovery, with the goal of enabling a quick return to normal life.
