Hat yai: Minister Narumon has directed the Ministry of Education to mobilize efforts to revitalize the southern region by setting up 50 Fix It Centers aimed at repairing homes and improving lives following the severe flooding. She stressed the urgency of reopening schools promptly to prevent disruptions in children’s education.
According to Thai News Agency, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, disclosed the Ministry of Education’s plans to support recovery efforts in the flood-stricken southern region. The flooding has profoundly affected multiple provinces, especially critical economic zones such as Hat Yai District in Songkhla Province, which urgently requires relief and rehabilitation. The Ministry of Education will collaborate with government agencies, the private sector, and volunteers across various areas to achieve this goal.
Prof. Dr. Narumon further announced her plans to visit Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, tomorrow. She has instructed all units under her jurisdiction to fully equip and prepare their manpower, equipment, and operational teams. Her directive emphasizes the importance of coordinated and effective operations aimed at revitalizing the city and restoring normalcy to people’s lives as swiftly as possible. This initiative includes repairing damaged homes, schools, and public utilities, necessitating equipment, a network of technicians, and a substantial number of local volunteers.
The Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) has taken the lead by setting up 50 Fix It Centers throughout the southern region. These centers aim to provide repair services for electrical appliances, occupational equipment, machinery, and motorcycles damaged by the floods. This initiative is expected to reduce household expenses and assist people in returning to work more efficiently.
Additionally, the Department of Non-Formal and Informal Education (DNI) has mobilized its affiliated units, equipped with cleaning tools, rice, dried food, and other essentials, to expedite the restoration of community areas. The goal is to ensure these areas are safe and ready for public use once again.
The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has been tasked with cleaning and restoring schools in the affected areas. This is part of efforts to expedite the reopening of schools as scheduled, thereby minimizing the impact on children and youth. The focus will be on cleaning classrooms, electrical systems, fields, and any damaged school buildings.
