Bangkok: Minister Narumon has ordered the closure of an additional 1,168 educational institutions located in border areas.
According to Thai News Agency, the decision was made due to ongoing fighting and the potential for the conflict to spread, posing a risk to students, teachers, and educational personnel. In response, 102 schools in safer areas have been designated as temporary shelters for evacuees from high-risk zones.
Minister of Education, Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, emphasized the priority of safety for those involved in the education sector. She instructed all units under the Ministry of Education to closely monitor the situation and prepare emergency response plans immediately. Although no additional damage has been reported, the need for readiness remains crucial.
Professor Dr. Narumon also detailed efforts to support the affected areas through the involvement of vocational students. The Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) has been tasked with deploying students to perform various essential services. These include installing electrical systems, developing the royal kitchen system at Chang International Circuit, assisting with military equipment transportation, and supporting food preparation and public care at shelters.
Additionally, once conditions stabilize, Fix It Centers will be established to aid in the repair of essential tools, agricultural machinery, and local equipment, facilitating a swift return to normalcy for affected communities.
