Minister of Justice Anticipates Forex Case Clarity Before Parliamentary Session Ends

Bangkok: The Minister of Justice expects that the case involving Pawut and the Forex market will be clarified before the conclusion of the current parliamentary session. Police Lieutenant General Ruduthpol Nawarat, the Minister of Justice, has addressed the ongoing investigation into the financial dealings of Mr. Pawut Pongwitayapanu, a party-list MP from the People's Party.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pongwitayapanu submitted evidence to the Department of Special Investigation (DSI) concerning his alleged involvement in a Forex case, with financial transactions linked to Spark Digital Co., Ltd., amounting to 28 million baht. The Minister revealed that although he has not yet received a detailed report from the DSI, investigators have already interviewed approximately 100 victims and amassed substantial evidence, including financial transaction data. He expects significant progress in the case before the parliamentary session ends on July 11th.

The Minister emphasized that the DSI is responsible for assessing the readiness of the evidence and the number of witnesses after the session concludes, and he intends not to interfere with the investigators' work. Furthermore, concerning any suspicious issues from Mr. Pawut's clarification, Police Lieutenant General Ruttapol mentioned that they have not delved into details, as they are part of the case file. Officials will decide which details can be publicly disclosed.

While no official date has been set for filing charges, the Minister confirmed that the financial transaction information is substantial, with approximately 100 victims involved. The Department of Special Investigation is expected to provide further details regarding the financial trail.
