Minister Sends Team to Support Injured Forest Ranger in Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi: Suchart sends a team to visit the head of the Salak Phra Forest Fire Station after he was shot while on duty.

According to Thai News Agency, the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment has expressed concern over the shooting incident involving a forest ranger in Kanchanaburi. The victim, Mr. Warun Chansawang, head of the Salak Phra-Erawan Forest Fire Control Station and assistant head of Erawan National Park, was attacked while performing his duties in the forest area of Kanchanaburi Province on March 5, 2026. The shooting took place near the Pong Pat Bridge in the Chong Sadao Subdistrict of Mueang District.

Following the attack, rescue workers from the Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation transported Mr. Chansawang to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. Medical professionals found that the bullet had impacted several critical areas, including the spleen, stomach, diaphragm, and lungs. Although he remains on a ventilator in the ICU, his condition is stable and he is conscious, under strict medical supervision.

Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, has been closely following the situation and expressed gratitude to the officials for their dedication to protecting the nation's forests. The Ministry has pledged full medical support, welfare, and benefits for Mr. Chansawang, recognizing his sacrifices and wishing him a swift recovery.

In response to the incident, Mr. Suchart has dispatched Pol. Maj. Gen. Nanthachart Suphamongkol, an advisor to the Minister, and Mr. Atthapol Charoenchansa, Director-General of the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation, to visit the injured ranger's family. They have provided initial financial assistance to support the morale of the officers affected by this event.

Meanwhile, authorities have successfully apprehended the suspects involved in the shooting and are currently pursuing legal proceedings against them.
