Ministry of Education Addresses Concerns Over Teacher Recruitment for Administrator Visit in Hat Yai

Hat yai: The Ministry of Education has addressed the controversy concerning the recruitment of teachers to welcome administrators during a visit to Hat Yai District, Songkhla Province, amid flood monitoring activities. The ministry emphasized its commitment to prioritizing the safety of teachers and students and assured full support from the central government.

According to Thai News Agency, social media posts and photographs have raised concerns that teachers might be expected to welcome senior administrators during their flood monitoring visit. Second Lieutenant Thanu Wongchinda, spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, clarified the intention behind the visit. He stated that Deputy Prime Minister Captain Thammanat Prompao, Minister of Education Professor Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, and other senior executives are focused on the welfare of teachers, administrators, and students, especially in flood-affected areas. They do not wish for teachers or other personnel to undertake additional responsibilities during this challenging period.

The Ministry of Education spokesperson further explained that the primary aim of the administrators’ visit is to assess the situation, offer assistance to impacted schools and staff, and work with relevant agencies to speed up recovery and ensure school safety. The spokesperson reiterated the ministry’s priority is the safety and well-being of teachers and students, and they do not expect any additional actions from teachers and staff, other than ensuring their own and their families’ safety.

To facilitate recovery efforts post-flooding, the Ministry of Education has mobilized resources from various departments, including vocational volunteers and the Fix It Center under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission. Additionally, volunteer personnel from less affected areas have been enlisted to help restore school infrastructure, educational tools, teacher accommodations, and the surrounding areas, aiming for a swift and safe reopening of schools and educational institutions.
