Ministry Offers Free Nature Trips as New Year Gift to Thai Citizens

Bangkok: Enjoy a free 5-day trip to the forest, mountains, and sea nationwide as a New Year's gift from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for 2026.

According to Thai News Agency, the initiative, titled "Creating Happiness for Thais, from the Heart of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment," allows people to visit natural tourist attractions across the country without any entrance fees for five days. This gesture aims to promote eco-tourism and provide an opportunity for Thai families to spend quality time together amidst natural surroundings.

Dr. Raweewan, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, explained that the entrance fee waiver will be in effect from December 31, 2025, to January 4, 2026. This includes access to 133 national parks, 160 wildlife sanctuaries, 9 recreational and urban forests, 7 zoos, botanical gardens, museums, and aquariums nationwide. The initiative is designed to alleviate financial burdens and spread happiness among the Thai people.

In addition to free entry, the Ministry will establish public service centers at various locations to assist tourists. These centers will offer amenities such as rest areas, restrooms, camping facilities, and emergency services. Tourists can also participate in New Year's promotional activities, including sapling distribution, free vehicle inspections, and recycling initiatives to encourage responsible tourism.

Looking beyond the New Year, the Ministry has plans for 2026 that aim to enhance the quality of life for citizens. These include allocating land for farming, developing water resources, promoting online education about natural resources, and improving safety in marine tourism. The Ministry emphasizes the importance of environmental awareness and sustainable resource preservation for the well-being of future generations.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment invites everyone to embrace this opportunity for responsible nature tourism and contribute to the collective efforts in preserving Thailand's natural beauty.
