Motorcycle Accident in Buriram Due to Blanket Entanglement

Buriram: A gas station employee came to the aid of a 16-year-old girl and her male friend after their motorcycle toppled over in the middle of the road. An inspection revealed that a blanket had become ensnared in the motorcycle's chain, leading to the fall. Fortunately, a ten-wheeled truck trailing them managed to avert a collision.

According to Thai News Agency, a Facebook user shared an image depicting an injured individual and a blanket wrapped around a motorcycle chain, with a caption advising against wearing blankets while riding, citing safety concerns. The individual in the photo was identified as Mr. Phuwanat, a 19-year-old gas station employee on Buriram-Nang Rong Road.

Mr. Phuwanat recounted that during his shift, he witnessed the motorcycle, carrying a young man and woman, suddenly collapse in the road. The truck behind them narrowly avoided an accident. He rushed over to assist, finding the teenagers in shock and comforting each other on the ground. He moved them to safety and removed the motorcycle from the road. The young man, estimated to be around 17 years old, sustained scrapes and wounds on his arms and legs, while the young woman suffered a cracked mouth and broken teeth. Mr. Phuwanat contacted rescue services to transport them to the hospital.

Upon inspecting the motorcycle, it was discovered that a blanket was caught in the chain, believed to be the cause of the accident. The young woman had likely been using the blanket for warmth while riding, and it inadvertently became tangled during the ride.
