Bangkok: MP Klaatham submitted a request to the Speaker of the Parliament to establish a committee to consider land issues, specifically overlapping national park land with infrastructure development, in order to improve the quality of life for people in the area.
According to Thai News Agency, at the Parliament building, Mr. Dachai Ekpathapi, MP for Lampang Province from the Kla Tham Party, and his colleagues held a press conference regarding their proposal to the Speaker of the House of Representatives. They emphasized the need for a special committee to address the issue of overlapping land ownership within national parks and the development of public utilities and infrastructure.
They highlighted that development in forest areas is fraught with legal challenges and a lack of coordination among government agencies. These obstacles lead to prolonged permit processes from the Department of Forestry and the Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation for essential projects such as constructing transportation routes, water supply systems, and electrical infrastructure. These delays have significantly impacted local residents, causing hardship and hindering development efforts.
The Kla Tham Party, committed to resolving these issues for the benefit of the people in all areas, is advocating for the establishment of this special committee. The motion aims to tackle the overlapping land issues more effectively, ultimately providing improved public utilities and infrastructure to enhance the quality of life for individuals residing in these affected regions.
