Bangkok: Children in Thailand will enjoy free rides on the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system on Saturday, January 10, 2026, as part of the National Children's Day celebrations.
According to Thai News Agency, the Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has partnered with several operators to provide this service, aiming to enhance public transportation experiences for young passengers.
The initiative involves collaboration between MRTA and Bangkok Expressway and Metro Public Company Limited (BEM), operating the MRT Blue and Purple Lines; Eastern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (EBM), operating the MRT Yellow Line; and Northern Bangkok Monorail Company Limited (NBM), operating the MRT Pink Line. The free ride offer is targeted at children aged 14 years and under, with specific height criteria for eligibility.
On the MRT Blue and Purple Lines, children under 140 cm in height can collect a free ride coupon at any ticket counter. For the MRT Yellow and Pink Lines, children traveling with a guardian can receive a complimentary ticket at any station ticket counter, with the guardian paying the regular fare.
In addition to the free rides, MRTA will host the "MRTA National Children's Day 2026" event at MRT Phahonyothin Station, featuring a K-9 dog demonstration, games, and activity booths. Concurrently, the MRT Blue Line will facilitate access to the "MRT Brings Happiness for Children's Day" activities at Museum Siam, accessible from MRT Sanam Chai Station.
