Bangkok: The Football Association of Thailand recently organized a draw ceremony for the “Muang Thai Cup” football competition, season 2025/26, playoff round. The event took place on November 11, 2025, at the Muang Thai Insurance meeting room, located on the 14th floor of the Muang Thai Phatra Complex Building, “Tower A”.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was attended by various dignitaries including Wilaks Lothong, Vice President of the Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage; Nuanwan Lamsam, Director of Human Resources Development at Muang Thai Insurance Public Company Limited; Pramote Sakkamjorn, Senior Deputy Managing Director at Muang Thai Life Assurance Public Company Limited; Patcharaporn Kuson, Head of Video and Broadcast Management at Advanced Info Service Public Company Limited (AIS); and Kongkan Katong, Domestic Sales Manager at Molten (Thailand) Company Limited.
The playoff round of the 2025/26 Thai Cup will feature 19 winning teams from the qualifying round paired with 13 teams from Thai League 2, making up 16 pairs with a total of 32 teams. These teams will compete to advance to the final 32 round, where they will join teams from Thai League 1.
The results of the lottery draw are as follows: PSU Surat Thani City will face PT Satun FC, Samut Sakhon City will compete against Nakhon Si United, Burapha United is set to play Mahasarakham SBT FC, while Udon United will take on Khon Kaen United. Other notable matchups include Lopburi City versus Songkhla FC, Khlang United against Nong Bua Pitchaya FC, and FC Yala facing Nakhon Pathom United. The playoff round is scheduled for November 26, 2025.
The “Thai League Cup” football competition, established in 1987, follows a knockout format and includes teams from Thai Leagues 1-3. Buriram United holds the record for most championships, having secured the title eight times, including a recent victory over Lamphun Warriors in the final match.
This tournament is regarded as one of Thailand’s major football cup competitions, with the winning team receiving a cash prize of 5,000,000 baht and a spot in the 2026/27 ASEAN Football Club Championship. The runner-up will earn 1,000,000 baht, and each visiting team from the qualifying round to the final eight will be awarded 50,000 baht in travel expenses.
