Nan Province Flood Recovery Efforts Intensify as Waters Recede

Nan: Authorities are accelerating the cleanup of Nan city after the floodwaters receded. The Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads has mobilized personnel, equipment, and machinery to immediately support the cleanup and restoration of roads in Nan Province.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Pichit Hunsiri, Director-General of the Department of Rural Roads, chaired a meeting to monitor the flood situation in the northern region. Directors from central and regional offices, as well as relevant rural highway districts, participated via Zoom Cloud Meeting. During the meeting, the Director-General instructed the Rural Highway Offices (ROHs) and rural highway districts in Nan Province to provide full assistance to the affected population. This includes restoring roads, resurfacing traffic as quickly as possible, using water trucks to clean the rural highway network in areas where water levels have receded, and using dump trucks to transport damaged materials out of the area to alleviate hardship and allow people to return to normal life as soon as possible.

Furthermore, Mr. Hunsiri emphasized the need for other forms of assistance, such as having the Rural Highway Office 17 (Chiang Rai) and its affiliated rural highway districts provide water trucks and machinery to support the operations of the Nan rural highway district. They are also distributing water to households and providing relief supplies to alleviate initial hardship.

The Department of Rural Roads (DRR) immediately dispatched personnel to inspect bridge and road structures for initial repairs and restoration to allow public access. A further assessment of the situation will be conducted to plan long-term restoration and repair efforts. Furthermore, the DRR continues to monitor the flood situation in other high-risk areas. If the public needs to report an incident or request assistance, they can contact the hotline 1146 or the relevant rural road district office nationwide.
