Narumon Wonghachak Shines with Double Gold at Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships

Tashkent: Narumon Wonghachak claimed two gold medals and one silver medal at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships. Her performance in the Women's 49 kg Group A junior category marked a significant achievement for Team Thailand.

According to Thai News Agency, Narumon demonstrated remarkable skill in the snatch lift, successfully lifting 73, 75, and 77 kilograms. This effort secured her a silver medal, the first for the Thai team in the event. In the clean and jerk, she initially lifted 98 kilograms, followed by 101 kilograms. Although her third attempt at 105 kilograms was not executed with perfect form, her successful lift of 101 kilograms was sufficient to earn her a gold medal. With a combined total weight of 178 kilograms, she secured another gold medal.

The competition saw strong performances from other athletes as well. Angeline Colonia from the Philippines won a gold medal in the snatch with 80 kilograms and two silver medals in the clean and jerk, achieving a total weight of 173 kilograms. Alexandra Ann Diaz, also from the Philippines, took home two bronze medals with a snatch lift of 77 kilograms and a total weight of 169 kilograms. Vietnam's Hoi Ga secured a bronze in the clean and jerk with a lift of 93 kilograms.

In the boys' 60 kg youth category, Group B, Thailand's Kritipong Tosla finished 8th in both the snatch and clean and jerk categories, with a total weight of 225 kilograms, placing him 7th overall. The Philippines' Jeric Icon Castro dominated the category, winning all three gold medals and setting a new Asian youth record in the clean and jerk with 144 kilograms, surpassing the previous record of 143 kilograms, and achieving a total weight of 260 kilograms.
