Nephew’s Drug-Induced Hallucination Leads to Fatal Stabbing in Udon Thani

Udon thani: Hallucinating from drug use, a nephew fatally stabbed his aunt and seriously injured his other aunt, claiming he intended to kill a malevolent spirit. He was found to have been addicted to drugs for over 10 years.

According to Thai News Agency, Udon Thani police arrested Mr. Pornchai, known as "No," aged 39, after he attacked his aunt, Ms. Wipawan, 58, fatally, and severely injured his other aunt, Ms. Napaporn, 47, with a knife. The incident unfolded as the women were dining in front of the Non Sawan village headman's house, in Chiang Yuen Subdistrict, Mueang Udon Thani District, at 10:00 AM on June 3, 2026. The attack sent neighbors into a panic, before villagers and police managed to detain Mr. No and deliver some mob justice.

Footage from a police officer's body camera revealed the chaotic scene as officers attempted to restrain an agitated Mr. No. Despite his erratic behavior, including evading capture using forked sticks, he was eventually subdued by a group of officers after running out of his house.

On the afternoon of June 3, police escorted Mr. No to Udon Thani Central Hospital for medical attention before transferring him to Huai Luang Sub-district Police Station. There, he faces charges of "intentional homicide and attempted homicide."

Mr. No later explained that he believed his aunt and uncle to be evil spirits, or "Pob," who intended to harm him, prompting his violent actions. After the attack, he claimed to have revived his aunt and insisted that his knives were not enchanted, but became powerful in his possession due to a mystical metal he called "Lek Lai." He maintained that there would be no karmic repercussions for his actions, asserting that he had previously "killed" nine other evil spirits in various locations.

Admitting to taking two pills prior to the incident, Mr. No confessed to a decade-long history of drug abuse. He expressed regret, stating, "I want to apologize to both my aunt and uncle. I didn't intend to kill the evil spirit."

Mr. Tle, 22, the son of the deceased, recounted that during the attack, his mother, aunt, and a friend were preparing to eat when Mr. No approached and attacked with a knife. Mr. Tle was unable to intervene, fearing for his own safety, and suspected that Mr. No's methamphetamine use triggered his violent behavior.
