Nonthaburi Lawyers Council Visits Victim of Roadside Shooting Incident

Nonthaburi: The Nonthaburi Lawyers Council has taken swift action in response to a recent incident involving a hot-headed lawyer who fired a gun in the middle of the road, injuring a young motorcyclist. The president of the council, Thanasit Jirasitthanawat, emphasized that legal proceedings will be pursued without any exceptions or special assistance.

According to Thai News Agency, Thanasit Jirasitthanawat, along with Vice President Thaninthon Phumarat, visited the injured 36-year-old motorcyclist, Bodin, at the hospital. They offered a gift basket to show support for Bodin and his family. The council representatives made it clear that they were acting on behalf of the Nonthaburi Provincial Bar Association to express their concern and solidarity with the victim’s family. Although the perpetrator expressed a desire to apologize in person, the family was not ready for such an interaction. The incident has been attributed to the lawyer’s lack of emotional control, which has negatively impacted the reputation of the legal profession.

In terms of legal action, the council has assured that the case will be handled in strict accordance with legal procedures. The perpetrator admitted to carrying a firearm for safety reasons during a business trip and acknowledged that his actions were a result of a momentary lapse in judgment. He has agreed to cover the medical expenses of the injured party, although further compensation discussions are pending.

Bodin’s girlfriend, Ms. Sudarat, revealed that the surgery to treat his injuries lasted four hours. During this time, the perpetrator’s representative approached Bodin’s family with a settlement offer of 150,000 baht, which was declined due to safety concerns. The family intends to pursue legal action to its fullest extent.

The visit from the Lawyers Council, along with the assurance of covering expenses, has provided some comfort to Bodin and his family. The council has reiterated its commitment to impartiality in the case, ensuring that justice will be served without bias towards the perpetrator.
