Bangkok: North Star Park has announced the launch of the Bangkok International School for Athletics (BISA), a pioneering model international school dedicated to transforming Thai and Asian youth into world-class professional golfers and tennis players. The project was officially unveiled by Dr. Ekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, alongside Chatchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok.
According to Thai News Agency, the launch event, held at the Royal Pavilion, Royal Bangkok Sports Club, showcased the commitment of North Star Park and its partners to create a robust ecosystem for nurturing young athletic talent. The project has garnered support from esteemed sports figures, including Emilio Sanchez, founder of the Emilio Sanchez Academy, and 'Gino' Atthaya Thitikul, a former world number one golfer. These partnerships aim to provide aspiring athletes with comprehensive training and education opportunities.
The North Star Park development, situated near Suvarnabhumi Airport, is a real estate and sports mega-project designed to house BISA. This institution focuses on integrating high-performance sports training with education, enabling students to excel in both academics and athletics. The initiative, spearheaded by Philippe Suwanheun, Founder and CEO of North Star Park, seeks to combine education, sports, and well-being within a unified ecosystem.
Philippe emphasized that North Star Park is more than just a learning or training facility; it is a place for youth aged 12-18 to discover their life goals, build character, and develop confidence. The campus will feature an international school, specialized tennis and golf training centers, a physical and sports development center, wellness areas, and hospitality services. The primary focus will be on tennis and golf, with plans to expand into other sports in the future.
Governor Chatchart Sittipunt expressed optimism that the project will cultivate a comprehensive learning and sports environment, fostering discipline and opening new opportunities for youth. He envisions Bangkok becoming a regional hub for education and sports, allowing Thai children to compete globally.
Gino Atthaya Thitikul highlighted the unique design of BISA, which balances academics and sports, unlike traditional schools. She shared her personal experience of struggling to find time for golf practice due to conventional school hours. BISA's system, she believes, will be instrumental in nurturing future world-class Thai athletes.
