NSC Denies Issuing Food Hoarding Warning Amidst Global Advisory Trends

Bangkok:The National Security Council (NSC) has officially denied issuing any warnings for the public to hoard food and other essential supplies for 72 hours, amidst a backdrop of international advisories on stockpiling due to potential service disruptions.

According to Thai News Agency, there has been widespread discussion this week as numerous countries have recommended stockpiling food due to concerns over disruptions to service systems, particularly cybersecurity threats. This international advisory trend has prompted Thai citizens to question the necessity of stockpiling in the event of war, disaster, or cybersecurity failures.

Reports indicate that advisories from 20 countries have urged citizens to prepare for emergencies by storing food, water, medications, and other essentials. These measures are part of campaigns promoting household self-reliance during crises, which could last from three days to two weeks, depending on local conditions. These guidelines are intended to help people manage disruptions in power, water, communication, or transport services, and address a range of risks including natural disasters and cyber threats.

Despite circulating news reports suggesting the NSC had warned about preparing for conflict-related disruptions in the Middle East, the NSC clarified that neither its Secretary-General nor the council itself issued any such announcements. The NSC emphasized its ongoing efforts to monitor and assess the Middle East conflict's potential impact on national security and interests, coordinating with relevant agencies for appropriate preparations.

The NSC advises the public to disregard rumors and obtain information directly from government agencies. It assures that any significant developments affecting national security will be communicated to the public in coordination with responsible agencies.
