Opening of ‘OR Oil Spill Reduction Training Center’

Mr. Disatat Panyarachun, Chief Executive Officer of PTT Oil and Retail Business Public Company Limited (OR), presided over the official opening of the 'OR Oil Spill Response Training Center' at the Saraburi Oil Depot, Sao Hai District, Saraburi Province, an important step in raising safety standards and environmental protection in Thailand's oil and gas industry. Mr. Disathit revealed that the opening of OR's Oil Spill Cleanup Training Center demonstrates OR's commitment to environmental care and operational safety, especially in the area of ??oil spills. With OR's oil depots located near several water sources, OR is aware of the importance of preparing for such emergency situations. The training center has been designed and developed under the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) to enhance the potential of personnel to effectively handle oil spills. OR has developed the potential of personnel and prepared standard tools and equipment, which will not only help enhance OR's capabilitie s, but also support the readiness of the oil and gas industry in Thailand and the Southeast Asian region.' The OR Oil Spill Cleanup Training Center is operated by OR's Leadership and Business Development Institute (OR Academy). It is equipped with complete and modern equipment and facilities, such as a large water well covering an area of ??1,500 square meters for training, various types of oil containment equipment (Boom) with a total length of more than 100 meters, oil slick suction equipment (Skimmer) with hydraulic engine, oil slick spraying equipment (Sea spray), oil slick collection equipment (Floating storage tank) with a capacity of 1,200 liters, liquid storage equipment (Fast tank) with a capacity of 11,000 liters, and oil slick collection vessels, etc. OR Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in oil spill cleanup training under the International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards with Oil Spill Combat Team Indonesia (OSCT Indonesia) on July 6, 2023 to develop training cour ses to international standards. In addition, OR's Saraburi Water Depot also consists of a firefighting training center, providing firefighting training courses and oil spill cleanup courses, both in theory and practice. The company offers three levels of oil spill cleanup courses (IMO 1, IMO 2, IMO 3) that are certified to international standards, without the need to travel abroad for training.
