Opening the first day of the 2024 ASEAN Bodybuilding Competition. Thai athletes won 1 gold medal from Thanakrit Prachanthasen.

The 18th Southeast Asian Bodybuilding and Fitness Championships, organized for the first time in Vientiane, Lao PDR, has opened. at the convention room Donchan Palace Hotel Vientiane, Lao PDR, with 11 ASEAN countries sending athletes to compete in the competition. The Bodybuilding and Fitness Sports Association of Thailand sent 6 athletes representing the Thai national team to participate in this competition. As for the results of the first day of the competition, Thai national bodybuilding athletes collected 1 gold medal from the performance of Thanakrit Prachantasen, the most recent Royal Cup champion of the Thailand Championships. The 2nd place silver medal went to Nguyen Van Quang of Vietnam, the 3rd place bronze medal went to Nguyen Minh My of Vietnam, 4th place Akbar Nur Asmi of Indonesia and 5th place Mohammad Isham Bin Fazi of Malaysia. On the first day, there was only one Thai athlete participating in the competition. The remaining 5 athletes will compete on Sunday, May 19th.
