Bangkok: The Narcotics Suppression Bureau Region 2 launched "Operation 1386 Anti-Drug Campaign," deploying a force of 140 officers to surround and search six strategic locations across Bang Lamung, with the objective of arresting drug dealers, users, and individuals listed as drug kingpins. The operation aims to dismantle the drug trafficking network at its roots.
According to Thai News Agency, the operation was led by Mr. Isra Charoenchasri, the Deputy Governor of Chonburi Province, and commenced at 5:30 AM. The authorities, comprising police, military, local administration, and partner agencies, coordinated efforts based on tips received via the Narcotics Suppression Bureau's 1386 hotline. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to acting decisively on public information, focusing not only on suppressing drug networks but also on offering rehabilitation for users.
The main operation unfolded in the community of Soi 12, Nong Mai Kaen, within the Nong Prue Subdistrict, where officers arrested three suspects. Ms. Sukanya, 41, was found with 5 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 20 methamphetamine pills. Mr. Bancha, 42, was discovered with 1 gram of crystal methamphetamine. Mr. Wanthonchai, 24, was caught with 300 methamphetamine pills and approximately 25 grams of crystal methamphetamine. In another significant raid in the community of Soi Phatthanakan 4, Nong Prue Subdistrict, authorities apprehended two suspects with outstanding arrest warrants for drug-related offenses and another individual for possession of narcotics.
In pursuit of their objectives, authorities also arrested two additional drug users and possessors at different locations. These individuals will face prosecution and be screened for rehabilitation as part of efforts to combat drug addiction and its associated societal impacts.
