Bangkok: A significant monastic ordination project is being conducted under the patronage of the Supreme Patriarch to honor Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi, Krom Luang Rajasarinisiripatchara Mahavajrarajathida.
According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony commenced today with His Holiness Somdej Phra Ariyavongsakhatayan, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, granting an audience at Phuchongprathan Wittayasit Building 1, Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam. Deputy Prime Minister Mrs. Supajee Suthamphan, representing Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, along with officials from the Office of the Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Transport, paid their respects and reported on the ordination project. This project, under the Supreme Patriarch's patronage, aims to dedicate merit to Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavadi from June 13 to June 29, 2026.
During the ceremony, His Majesty received representatives of the ordination candidates, conducted the hair-shaving ritual, and delegated the task to Somdej Phra Maha Veerawong, Assistant Abbot of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam and Secretary to the Supreme Patriarch. The hair-shaving ceremony for 100 young men took place on the veranda of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam. The ordination ceremony for the novices is set to occur at the same location, with subsequent full ordinations planned at four other temples: Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, Wat Ratchapradit Sathit Mahasimararam, Wat Thepsirin Thrawas, and Wat Buranasirimatyaram on June 14, 2026. The inducted monks will engage in studying Buddhist scriptures and meditation at Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Mahasimararam, as well as the Supreme Patriarch's Meditation Institute (Amphromaha Thera), supported by Mahamakut Buddhist University in Lam Luk Ka District, Pathum Thani Province.
