Bangkok: The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) has reported that after 14 days, over 1 million people have registered for advance voting. The ECT has summarized the number of registered voters requesting to cast their ballots early, both within and outside their electoral districts, over the 14-day registration period from December 20, 2025, to January 2, 2026. A total of 1,047,661 people registered, including 4,757 people who registered to vote within their electoral district, 960,871 people who registered to vote outside their district, and 82,033 people who registered to vote overseas.
According to Thai News Agency, citizens who have essential business and cannot vote on February 8th, or citizens residing outside the Kingdom, as well as officials appointed to perform duties on election day, have the opportunity to register until January 5, 2026. This initiative aims to accommodate those who may not be available to vote on the designated election day.
Additionally, citizens who have registered for advance voting but later decide not to or are unable to vote on February 1, 2026, because they are not eligible for advance voting in the referendum, have the option to cancel their advance voting registration. They can then participate in the general election along with the referendum scheduled for February 8, 2026.
