Pakistani Cargo Plane Missing After Navigation System Failure

Karachi: A Pakistani plane has gone missing, raising concerns about the fate of the crew and cargo. A Pakistan-registered Boeing 737 cargo plane, operated by K2 Airways, lost contact with air traffic control on Tuesday night. The pilot had reported a navigation system problem while en route to Karachi.

According to Thai News Agency, initial flight data from FlightRadar24 suggests that the 27-year-old modified cargo plane, traveling from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, may have crashed into the sea southwest of Karachi. The aircraft experienced several sudden changes in altitude before rapidly plunging, prompting a maritime search and rescue operation to be launched in an effort to locate the missing aircraft.

K2 Airways has announced that it is working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan and other government agencies to address the situation. The Pakistan Airports Authority further reported that, despite the pilot's navigation problem report, local air traffic controllers attempted to assist. However, three minutes after the report, radar indicated the aircraft was rapidly descending, and contact was subsequently lost. The loss of contact occurred approximately 287 kilometers west of Karachi.
