Pattaya: Pattaya police have successfully apprehended two former technicians accused of stealing from tourist pool villas over a period of 12 days in five separate incidents.
According to Thai News Agency, the operation was led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos Thepjamnong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, who commended the swift action of the Pattaya Police in solving the case and restoring public confidence.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos praised the efforts of the Pattaya City Police Station under the leadership of Pol. Col. Anek Sathongyu and his team, who managed to arrest Mr. Athip, also known as ‘Arm’, aged 31, and Mr. Kun, aged 22, both Cambodian nationals. The arrests took place at a rented house in Chonburi Province, where over 100 items of evidence were seized, including cash, luxury goods, and electronic devices. The suspects had been targeting villas from May 5-17, 2025, waiting for tourists to be heavily intoxicated before breaking in and stealing valuables.
The investigation revealed that the suspects had previously worked as contractors for several pool villas, giving them knowledge of property layouts and security weaknesses. Their stolen goods were sold to settle debts and purchase drugs. The police charged the duo with ‘jointly committing theft at night by damaging a barrier’. The investigation team tracked the suspects using CCTV footage, identifying them through repeated motorcycle visits to the crime scenes.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyos emphasized the dedication and skill of the police force in ensuring public safety. He encouraged pool villa operators and tourists to enhance security measures such as locking systems and CCTV installations.
