Paul Scholes Endorses David Beckham’s Bid to Acquire Manchester United

Manchester:Paul Scholes, the former Manchester United midfielder, has publicly endorsed his former teammate David Beckham's potential bid to purchase Manchester United. This move aims to end the leadership of the Glazer family and Sir Jim Ratcliffe amidst growing dissatisfaction from fans with the existing management.

According to Thai News Agency, the Glazer family has maintained a majority stake in Old Trafford since May 2005. British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe acquired a 27.7% stake to oversee football operations starting in 2024. However, a series of errors over the past two and a half years has led to growing impatience among fans.

Scholes expressed his support for Beckham on the podcast The Good, The Bad and The Football. When questioned about rumors of Beckham's potential takeover, Scholes stated that if Beckham has the financial capability and the desire, he should pursue the opportunity. Scholes noted Beckham's tendency to work behind the scenes, as he did with Inter Miami.

Nicky Butt, another former Manchester United midfielder, highlighted the financial challenges Beckham might face in acquiring the club. Butt emphasized the Glazer family's high valuation of the club at £8 billion, which he believes does not reflect its current worth given the club's absence from the Champions League and other decreasing commercial values.

The management turmoil mirrors Manchester United's poor on-field performance. Under the guidance of Michael Carrick, the team sits 17th in the Premier League with only 7 points from 9 games. Despite a recent Champions League victory over AS Roma, Carrick continues to face significant challenges in the league.
