Bangkok: Peru destroyed more than 9.3 tons of seized drugs yesterday in its fifth drug destruction operation of 2026. The shipment included 4,519 kilograms of marijuana, 3,465 kilograms of cocaine, and 760 kilograms of cocaine base (raw cocaine), along with other narcotics confiscated by the Peruvian National Police during a crackdown on illegal drug trafficking.
According to Thai News Agency, C©sar Jordan Brignole, Minister of State for Public Security, is closely overseeing the destruction of confiscated drugs in Lima. Experts are present to verify the authenticity of the seized items before officials transport the bags of drugs into the incinerator.
Peru's Deputy Minister of Public Security revealed that this drug destruction was a direct attack on organized crime groups, as it cut off their source of income that would otherwise be used to support other illegal activities.
